The NuMeCan aims to foster knowledge transfer for the benefit of the public by strengthening translational research to and from patients. This is facilitated by the strong involvement of health practitioners, physicians (clinicians and biologists), pharmacists and odontologists in the 3 teams.
A working group, including both clinicians and biologists, explores metabolic and nutritional diseases that have a systemic impact and can this be expressed at the level of different organs. It promotes exchanges between complementary medical disciplines to improve translational research.
The project relies on a shared clinical database, built by clinicians, to study diseases with a global impact by bringing together epidemiological, biological and genomic approaches. Such approaches promote basic and clinical research on diseases with systemic impact.
